Dorian H Gatchell - Agronomist, Owner. Minnesota Agricultural Services
320-321-3615 - [email protected]
My name is Dorian Gatchell. I am a fifth generation Gatchell from the family farm where my parents are still actively continuing the traditions of raising livestock and crops. Other than my time in the Air Force, I have been involved in agriculture, in some form, for all of my life. I cannot imagine having it any other way. My boots are always dirty; I don’t even own a tie.
I think my love for agriculture started when I was young, watching my family raise crops and care for their livestock as if they were a part of them. My curiosity grew as I did and wanting to learn more about agriculture propelled me to earn degrees in agronomy: first an Associate Degree from the University of Minnesota in 1992, a Bachelors of Science from South Dakota State University in 1994, and a Masters of Science from Iowa State University in 2005 where I focused on soybean cyst nematode.
My military career has rewarded me with a different aspect on life. Being able to serve others has truly been character building as belonging to something larger than oneself creates the building blocks of all other aspects of life. I have proudly served for 26 years in the Air Force and Air National Guard and am a stronger person because of it. My service to my community continues by my involvement with our local VFW and American Legion posts. My wife, Melanie, and my son, Tarin, help me by reminding me what I have.
My focus has been, and continues to be, to learn from the past, improve it, and pass it on to the next generation. That is why I strive to incorporate the economic, technological and stewardship aspects of agronomy in my work. It is only ours once.

Minnesota Agricultural Services specializes in crop production, however we know that many of our customers also incorporate livestock into their farming operation. In order to help our customers with their livestock needs we recommend the services of Dennis Bertrand.
